The device has a global position system (GPS) receiver, and a display, where the device generates a virtual perspective image of a real visible area from cartographic data of a terrain model based on a position of the device and spatial orientation of the device according to an algorithm. The image is displayed on the display, and the device allows a user to find the image of its real field of vision on the display and permits finding of a path in the visible area. The device enables planning of the routes before site inspection.
