发明名称 Improvements relating to fabric reinforced hollow articles and pipe joints
摘要 804,667. Fabric reinforced hollow articles and pipe joints. WAUGH, R. E., and YUREK, G. J. Aug. 8, 1955 [June 17, 1955], No. 22759/55. Classes 99(1) and 99(2). [Also in Groups VIII and XV] A tube is reinforced by applying a woven or knitted seamless fabric sleeve, coating the sleeve with synthetic resin and curing the resin. For additional strength further sleeves may be applied over the first sleeve in the same manner. The sleeve may be of fibre glass fabric and may be stretched over a plastic tube of greater diameter. The resin is applied by dipping, painting or spraying. The sleeve may be used to join two pipes of the same or different diameters placed end to end. A pipe elbow bend may be made by placing together two pipe sections having their ends cut to meet on a diagonal plane, applying a sleeve made as or stretched to the shape of an elbow, spraying with plastic and curing. Fig. 4 shows a T-piece made by pipes 30, 32, joined by a sleeve 38, 40 ; the part 38 may be slit to enable it to be applied to a long pipe and joined again by sewing. To form a return bend, a tube 50, Fig. 6, made of thin plastic, stiff paper or semi-hard rubber is formed with slots 52 so that when it is bent to U-shape and its ends are fitted on to parallel pipes 56, 58 the parts between the slots form supports for a sleeve 60 which, after spraying and curing, forms a rigid joint. Fig. 7 shows pipes 68, 70, 72 joined by a sleeve 62 cut at 64 to receive a sleeve 66, the two sleeves being sewn together. A sleeve as above may be used to reinforce plastic, glass or thin metal tubes, or articles such as tanks, retorts or kettles or other vessels. The synthetic resins may be polyester resins, epoxy resins, and other condensation types of thermosetting resins.
