<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a support structure for an image processing apparatus, which can ensure flatness and parallelism of an image processing section, even when the image processing apparatus has deviated center of gravity and which can also effectively prevent displacement or slippage of the apparatus e.g., even when the apparatus is mounted on a table. <P>SOLUTION: The support structure for the image processing apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus has an apparatus body 50, a base provided 30 at a lower portion of the apparatus body 50 for supporting the body 50, and an image processing unit disposed inside the apparatus body 50 or attached thereto. The processing unit is capable of effecting at least either an image forming operation or an image reading operation. Ground-contacting faces 61 are grounded on a contact-object surface. Supporting portions supporting elastic projections 60 formed from an elastic material are formed in the base 30.
