<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a catalyst for producing methacrylic acid which has excellent activity and methacrylic acid selectivity, and to provide a production method of methacrylic acid capable of producing methacrylic acid with an excellent yield by using the catalyst produced thus. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for producing methacrylic acid, which contains phosphorus, molybdenum and antimony is produced through a process of mixing a solid of heteropolyacid or its salt which contains phosphorus and molybdenum with an organic solvent solution or organic solvent slurry of an antimony compound.
