The method involves collecting products distributed on a supply conveyor (3) by a comb shaped collector (4). The collected products are deposited on a transferring station (10). The collector is driven along a cyclic loop movement including collecting, deposition and return phases. The collecting phase is started by considering information. The deposition phase is organized by draining the products forming a lot and by simultaneous transferring the drained products on a receiving plate (11) where the lot adopts a shape of a stack of products. An independent claim is also included for an installation for grouping stackable products, including a supply conveyor.
