PURPOSE: A high intensity discharging lamp is provided to actively exchange heat between a container wall and an electrode axis by including an electrode in which the temperature of a foot-point is limited. CONSTITUTION: A container has a wall(2) which hermetically seals a discharging space. An ionizable material is placed in the discharging space. An electrode axis(6) and an embedded part(4) are expanded from the wall of the container and are terminated at the tip of electrodes(3). The electrodes generate electric arc. A thick part is arranged between the embedded part and the tip(7) of the electrodes.
