PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display system which can actually match with high accuracy an existing position information detected by a position detection means for road under cruise, to provide a terminal device, a map display server, and a map display method. SOLUTION: The system comprises a display means 12, a map DB 32, node N and links L1-L11, a road network DB 33 which has a width information of link, a network polygon formation means 37 which polygonizes link based on corresponding width information, a position detection means 17, a trajectory information storage means 21 which stores the existing position information as a trajectory information, a trajectory information polygon formation means 20 which polygonizes the trajectory information based on predetermined virtual width information, a map matching means 18 to compare polygonized link with polygonized trajectory information, and to match the trajectory information on link and node, a map depiction means 15 to draw a map information displayed on the display means 12.
