<p>In a machine tool, a column base (12) is so supported on a bed as to be movable in the horizontal direction, a column (13) is installed upright on the column base (12), a saddle (14) is so supported on the side surface of the column (13) as to be movable in the vertical direction, a ram stock (15) is so supported on the saddle (14) as to be movable in the horizontal direction, and a main shaft (16) is so supported on the ram stock (15) as to be rotatably driven. A weight (22) is so supported in the column (13) as to be movable along the direction parallel to the ram stock (15), and the weight (22) can be moved along the horizontal direction by a servomotor (23). An NC apparatus (25) moves the weight (22) synchronously with the movement of the ram stock (15) by means of the servomotor (23) to adjust the balance of the column (13), whereby the machine tool can be miniaturized and installed in a saved space.</p> |
