摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quantitatively estimate variation in flange angle by abrasion of a wheel for a railroad in relation to the travel distance. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The flange angle in designing the wheel for the railroad is set, and constants A, B and C are calculated when relationships (1) and (2) establish a predetermined appropriate condition. Here, the relationship (1) is a relationship between X and Y determined from expression "Y=A×tanh(B×X)+C×X+D" where D is the set flange angle, X is the travel distance, and Y is flange angle. The relationship (2) is a relationship between the measured value of the flange angle in measurement historical data of the wheel for the railroad to be estimated and the travel distance during the measurement. Thus, the relationship between the flange angle of the wheel for the railroad and the travel distance can be formulated based on the measured value of the flange angle.
