<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording reproducing apparatus, a recording reproducing system, and a recording reproducing method capable of acquiring lost broadcasting data which is not recorded within a short time, while restricting copy and transmission/reception of broadcasting data under a constant condition. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The apparatus has a broadcasting time band information acquiring unit 110 for acquiring broadcasting time band information of a broadcasting program, a recording time band detecting unit 122 for detecting a time band in which the broadcasting program is recorded in a storing unit, a lost time band detecting unit 122 for detecting a lost time band in which the broadcasting program is not recorded in the storing unit based on the acquired broadcasting time band information and the detected recording time band, a cause information acquiring unit 123 for acquiring information relating to a cause why a detected lost time band is occurred, a cause determining unit 123 for determining whether the acquired cause information satisfies a predetermined condition, and a lost time band broadcasting signal receiving unit 124 for receiving broadcasting data of the lost time band from an external storage medium via a network when the cause information is determined as satisfying the predetermined condition.
