<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens position detecting device, detecting the absolute position of a lens with high accuracy in a compact constitution, and achieving a wide detection range corresponding to a comparatively large travel, and to provide a lens device to which the above device is applied. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this lens position detecting device, a cam cylinder (130) is disposed in the interior of a lens-barrel body (112) and the position of a lens (116) configured to move in the optical axis direction in the interior of the cam cylinder (130) is detected. A lens frame (122) is provided with a first sheet coil (171), and a second sheet coil (172) is provided at a position opposite to the first sheet coil (171) of the lens-barrel body (112). With the movement of the lens frame (122), the first sheet coil (171) moves at an opposite distance to the second sheet coil (172), whereby the position of the lens (116) is detected based on an electric signal output from the detection coil according to the moving position.
