<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument that can surely indicate to a driver that the rpm of the engine reaches a specified value. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The measuring instrument includes: a pointer 4 works on the basis of the rpm of an engine as a measuring quantity; a display panel 5 provided with a display section 5a that is indicated by the pointer 4; a ring-like light transmitting member 8 that is arranged ahead of the display panel 5 while surrounding the working range of the pointer 4 (indication section 4a); a luminescent means 10 for letting the light transmitting member 8 to emit a plurality of colors; and a control means 23 for controlling the luminescent means 10 so that the emitted color of the light transmitting member 8 may change when the indication value of the pointer 4 (indication section 4a) to the display section 5a reaches a specified value.
