<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load measuring device that detects force in the horizontal direction applied to a road surface buried object when a vehicle passes therethrough. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The load measuring device having the road surface buried object buried on the road surface where a vehicle travels, for measuring a load applied to the road surface buried object includes: a casing fixed by being buried on the road surface, whose surface on the upper side in the vertical direction is opened; the road surface buried object which is a plate-shaped member, arranged inside the casing in the movable state so that each surface having a wider area is faced to the upper surface side in the vertical direction and the lower surface side in the vertical direction; a lubricating means arranged between a surface on the lower side in the vertical direction of the road surface buried object and the casing; and a load detection means arranged between the side face of the road surface buried object and the casing, for detecting a load in the horizontal direction applied to the road surface buried object.
