<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filling apparatus capable of more rapidly and accurately filling articles to be filled with a predetermined filling number into an individual container. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The filling apparatus includes: a storing container 22 on the bottom face of which a passage opening 22b is formed; and a counting plate 36 freely movable below the passage opening 22b. The counting plate 36 is roughly divided into a counting region 32 in which counting holes 40 of the filling number are formed, and a closing region 34 for closing the passage opening 22b in accordance with necessity. When the articles 110 to be filled of the predetermined number are taken out of the storing container 22, the counting region 32 is positioned just below the passage opening 22b under a condition that falling of the articles 110 to be filled from the counting holes 40 is prohibited. At this time, a fine forwarding and retreating operation wherein after the counting region 32 is horizontally moved to a position a little deviated from the just below position of the passage opening 22b, it is returned to the just below the passage opening 22b, is performed at least one time.
