PURPOSE: A device and a method for sensing a sellout of a vending machine using a capacitive method are provided to enable a manager to easily manage a vending machine by notifying the manager of a sellout state. CONSTITUTION: A device for sensing a sellout of a vending machine comprises a sellout detector(130), a controller(140), and a sellout warning unit(170). The sellout detector is installed in the bottom of a material vessel and detects the sellout of a material. The controller generates a sellout warning control signal. The sellout warning unit visually warns the sellout depending on the sellout warning control signal.
