PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recording device, which can reduce the amount of ink to be wasted by performing optimum recovery action by suction in response to moisture retentive time. SOLUTION: The recovery of moisture retention of a discharging port is performed by predischarging in the cap of a recording head and then sealing the port with the cap. When printing instructions are input during the recovery of moisture retention, the recovery level by suction before printing is changed in response to the recovered state of moisture retention.
