<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device capable of imaging as satisfactorily as possible even when abnormality occurs in an optical shutter. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This imaging device 1 includes an imaging element 6 capable of controlling exposure by an electronic shutter, the optical shutter 5 arranged in the front on an optical path of the imaging element 6, a control part 11 for starting exposure onto the imaging element 6 by a front curtain and ending exposure onto the imaging element 6 by a rear curtain by controlling the electronic shutter or the optical shutter 5, and a shutter abnormality detection part 7 for detecting a state of the optical shutter 5 including the presence or absence of abnormality. The control part 11 further determines whether the optical shutter 5 can be controlled into an open state or not when abnormality of the optical shutter 5 is detected and controls to use the electronic shutter as at least the front curtain when the control of the optical shutter 5 is possible.
