<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus capable of preventing the leading end of a recording paper from coming in contact with a recording head. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The recording paper on which an image is recorded is guided onto a paper feed tray 20 through a reverse guiding path 67 branching from a paper discharge path 66, and fed by a paper feed roller 25 to a recording part 24 again. Curved paths 65A, 65B and 65C are disposed in a portion from the paper feed tray 20 to the recording part 24, a guide flap 70 is disposed in a connection part 37 between each of the curved paths and the paper feed tray 20. The guide flap 70 is positioned in one of first, second and third positions P1, P2 and P3 by a control part 84 in accordance with the rigidity of the recording paper. The recording paper on which the image is recorded is conveyed in one of the curved paths guided by the guide flap 70. The recording paper is halted at a second stop position in the curved path, during the halt, the leading end of the recording paper is curved toward the platen 42 (facing down).
