<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically calculate a proper approach direction when a slant is included in a drilling part in wire-cut electrical discharge machining. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When the drilling shape is slanted to a horizontal face during the wire-cut electrical discharge machining, an NC path is generated to match a direction to slant a wire to be parallel to a machining face in the drilling shape with the approach direction of the wire from an initial hole to an outer periphery track in the drilling shape to prevent cutting of a part of a product face that should not be machined due to horizontal movement of the wire before the wire is sufficiently slanted to the approximate angle to be parallel to the slanted face during approach of the wire from the initial hole to the outer periphery track in the drilling shape.
