<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately diagnose regeneration failure of a particulate filter after a filter regeneration means forcibly regenerates the particulate filter. <P>SOLUTION: This method for diagnosing regeneration failure of an exhaust emission control device includes the filter regeneration means forcibly heating the particulate filter 13 to burn collected particulates. An exhaust gas flow rate into the particulate filter 13 and a differential pressure between the inlet side and outlet side of the particulate filter 13 are calculated to calculate inclination of a change in the differential pressure with respect to a change in the exhaust gas flow rate, and the calculated inclination is compared with a predetermined reference inclination. When the calculated inclination exceeds the reference inclination, the regeneration failure of the particulate filter 13 is diagnosed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
