PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method of inspecting a vehicle for precisely performing the inspection of operation mode switching for a vehicle in which the operation mode switching is allowed. SOLUTION: The inspection device determines that it is not defective when rotational speed difference DS-DD between an S-mode mean rotational speed DS and a D-mode mean rotational speed DD is within a prescribed switching determination rotational speed range [J3, J4] after the operation mode is switched from the D-mode to the S-mode while an inspection object travels at a prescribed cruise speed M1, and determines that it is defective when the rotational speed difference DS-DD is outside the switching determination rotational speed range [J3, J4].
