<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a floor brush for improving a degree of vacuum in a suction port in the neighborhood of an anteriorly positioned obstacle, while cleaning dust in the air. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Openings 59 communicating with an electric blower are formed in the upper part of a case body 41. The dust in the air is cleaned from the respective openings 59. When projections 94 are brought into contact with the obstacle in front of the case body 41 so as to detect the obstacle, shutters 93 are operated by linkage so as to close the respective openings 59. The suction of the air from the openings 59 is blocked in the neighborhood of the obstacle so as to improve the degree of vacuum in the suction port 53 which is partially formed in the front and lower part of the case body 41.
