The invention relates to a method for making a nickel cermet electrode, comprising the step of forming, at room temperature, a mixture comprising an organic nickel salt in a solid state and at least one ceramic material in a solid state, followed by shaping the mixture and thermally processing the shaped mixture, preferably in reduction conditions, so as to form the nickel cermet electrode. The organic nickel salt is selected from nickel acetate, nickel carbonate, and nickel tartrate.
