PURPOSE: A paper money paying-in and paying-out device of an automatic teller machine is provided to reduce the configuration of the cateress unit by temporarily safekeeping the paper money discriminated to fault in the defrayment tray of a cateress unit. CONSTITUTION: A front plate(111) is installed in one side. A push plate(113) is installed with determined space to the front plate. A bill accession space(112) is formed between push plates. A separate unit is located in the downward of the front plate. The separate unit comprises a pick-up roller, a first feed roller, and the first guide roller in order to transmit the paper money inputted into the bill accession space by one each to a detection unit. A defrayment tray(116) loads the paper adjudged as fault in the detection unit. A second feed roller(117) and a second guide roller(115) make the paper money inflowing inflow from one side of the defrayment tray.
