<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provided a server, system and method for easily retrieving an area or a place name introduced on a television program in map retrieval. <P>SOLUTION: When accepting a retrieval request from a client device (30), a map retrieval server (20) extracts map data to be displayed in a client device from retrieval map storage means (26, 27) based on a retrieval word, and transmits the extracted map data to a client device which has accepted a retrieval request.
