PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a positional relation between a variable power lens and a focus lens from being out of a positional relation set by cam data due to the backlash of a drive mechanism, etc. SOLUTION: A lens driving apparatus includes: a stepping motor 110a; the drive mechanisms 109 and 102a transmitting the drive force of the stepping motor to the variable power lens 102, to move it; a focus actuator 111 moving the focus lens 105; a storage means 117 storing the cam data showing a relation between the position of the variable power lens for correcting image surface movement due to variable power and the position of the focus lens; and a zoom position detecting means 114a detecting the actual position of the variable power lens. A focus control means controls the drive of the focus actuator by using the detection result of the actual position before movement of the variable power lens by the zoom position detecting means, the target drive amount of the stepping motor and the cam data, when the variable power lens is moved.
