<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a bodily sensation time of a user about erasure of information recorded in a recording medium. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A recording and reproducing device 1 includes: a received signal analyzing part 55 for acquiring erasure indication erasing information to be erased which is recorded in any of optical disks 20; an auxiliary storage part 4 for storing the erasure indication; and a controller 56 for controlling the recording and reproducing part 8 and a turntable moving part 13 so as to erase information to be erased indicated by the erasure indication stored in the auxiliary storage part 4 or management information of the information to be erased, with acquisition of an operation indication where the optical disk 20 with the information to be erased recorded therein becomes an operation object or an indication for turning off a main power source 7 so that a self-device becomes a standby state as a trigger, if the optical disk 20 in which information to be erased indicated by erasure indication is recorded is not loaded onto a recording and reproducing part 8, when the received signal analyzing part 55 acquires the erasure indication.
