PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately tracking particular objects even if a plurality of particular objects are moving in every directions within an imaging frame. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes a face detecting circuit 121 for outputting object area data and detection reliability by detecting particular object within the imaging frame and an image correlation tracking circuit 123 for tracking a desired object based on correlation property among the frames of a moving image. When the tracking object identified by the image correlation tracking circuit 123 and the object (face) detected by the face detecting circuit 121 satisfy the predetermined continuous conditions, the tracking operation is shifted to that conducted with the face detecting circuit 121 by recognizing these tracking objects as the same detecting object.
