PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for an electrical component which can increase a retreating amount (a turning amount) of a part pressing an IC device (the electrical component), and can be compatible with a various types of electrical components. SOLUTION: The IC socket 10 includes: a socket body 12 for housing an IC package 11; a contact pin 13 electrically connected to a terminal part 11c of the IC package 11 housed in the socket body 12, and electrically connected to a wiring board; and a latch mechanism 14 for pressing the IC package 11 housed in the socket body 12. The latch 14 includes: a lever member 22 turnably arranged on the socket body 12 through a first turning shaft 21; and a pressing member 24 turnably arranged on the lever member 22 through a second turning shaft 23 and pressing the IC package 11. The socket body 12 includes a shaft part 12b as a guide part. The pressing member 24 includes a long hole 24c as a guided part in which the shaft part 12b slides. In the IC socket 10, a turning amount (θ2) of the pressing member 24 is increased more than a turning amount (θ1) of the lever member 22. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
