<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly active catalyst for use in the highly stereoregular polymerization of α-olefin; and a method for manufacturing an α-olefin polymer. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for use in the polymerization of the α-olefin is obtained by contacting the following (A), (B), (C) and (D), wherein this catalyst for use in the polymerization of the α-olefin is obtained by contacting a contact mixture which has been obtained by contacting component (B) and component (C), with component (A) and component (D); (A) a solid catalyst component using the essential components of Ti, Mg and halogen, (B) an organic aluminium compound, (C) a compound having a bond group of -C-O-C-O-C-, and (D) an alkoxysilicon compound.
