PURPOSE: A paper money paying-in and paying-out device of an automatic teller machine is provided to perform the escape movement of a push plate of a temporary storage unit and return action by accomplishing a back plate structure. CONSTITUTION: A temporary storage unit(20) comprises a fixed back plate(34) and a rear door(35). The fixed back plate is arranged in the back side of the elevation route of a push plate(22) in order to guide the elevating action of the paper money. The rear door is connected to the lower unit of the fixed back plate to the hinge type in order to guide the elevating action of the paper money. A supplement fetching unit(10) comprises a coupling door(41) connected to the push plate of the temporary storage unit. In the rotation state for the escape of the push plate, the end part of the push plate pressurizes the rear door. In the escape state of the push plate, the rear door of the push plate is completely pushed in the elevation route of the paper money. The coupling door guides the elevating action of the paper money.
