PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially usefulα-olefin-(meth)acrylic acid olefin copolymer having a high molecular weight and a high comonomer content, to provide a catalyst component which can establish the production of a copolymer of two differentα-olefins and a (meth)acrylic acid-type olefin, and to provide a production method using the same. SOLUTION: Theα-olefin-(meth)acrylic acid-type olefin copolymer is produced by using a specified metal complex formed by complexation with e.g. a sulfo-containing triphenylphosphine derivative in a catalyst composition.
