<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage region management apparatus and a storage region management method effectively utilizing a storage resource in assignment of hot spare regions in a system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The system includes a virtualization switch 10 managing a plurality of LUNs that are logical volumes of a plurality of RAID groups mutually having redundancy, if at least one RAID group is degenerated among the plurality of RAID groups, selecting at least a part of LUNs, as the hot spare regions, excluding the LUNs in a degenerated storage drive group and the LUNs assigned to a host device 30 in the plurality of LUNs, and transferring recovery data that is the data for recovering a degenerated RAID group to a RAID group to which the LUNs selected as the hot spare regions belong.
