PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light irradiation type cosmetic apparatus with improved safety by preventing accidents due to erroneous use and aged deterioration or the like. SOLUTION: The light irradiation type cosmetic apparatus 1 is provided with a light irradiation means for irradiating a living body surface with light from a light source 41 through a lens 44 on one end of a body 11 to be held by a hand. Then, the light irradiation means as an irradiation unit 4 is freely attachable and detachable to/from the body 11, and a detection means for detecting the attachment and detachment is provided. Thus, a light irradiation operation is prevented from being performed in the apparatus in the state that the light irradiation means is detached, the risk of an electric shock or the like is avoided, thereby improving safety.
