PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost surface light source device capable of effectively improving the luminance in the frontward direction.

SOLUTION: The surface light source device 10 includes a light source 25, a first optical sheet 40 for transmitting a light from the light source and a second optical sheet 50 arranged on the light-emitting side of the first optical sheet. The first optical sheet has a plurality of first unit shape elements 45, composing a first fly-eye lens 46. The second optical sheet has a plurality of second unit shape elements 55, composing a second fly-eye lens. A refractive index n1 of a material composing the first shape element is different from the refractive index n2 of a material composing the second shape element.
