PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic joined body and a method for producing the same in which even if the principal surfaces of a pair of flat substrates each composed of a silicon nitride sintered body are joined, the mechanical properties of the substrates are little reduced. SOLUTION: The principal surfaces 4 of a pair of flat substrates 2 each composed of a silicon nitride sintered body are joined via a joining layer 3 which contains glass 5 containing aluminum, silicon, yttrium, and lutetium as main components and contains a crystal 6 of a lutetium compound, thus forming a ceramic joined body 1. The crystal 6 of lutetium and a lutetium compound contained in the joining layer 3 has high thermal conductivity, high melting point, and is excellent in heat resistance. Therefore, the mechanical properties of the ceramic joined body 1 obtained by joining the substrates 2 can be almost the same as the mechanical properties of the substrates 2.
