摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moisture detection method in an optical fiber cable detecting surely penetration of moisture into an optical fiber cable by a simple method without applying a work to the optical fiber cable, and specifying surely a moisture penetration position, and to provide a neutron moisture meter used for the method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A neutron source 3 and a counter tube 4 are arranged across the optical fiber cable 1, and neutrons are discharged from the neutron source 3 toward the counter tube 4. When moisture exists in the optical fiber cable 1, neutrons are allowed to collide with hydrogen atoms therein to generate elastic scattering, and the number of neutrons per unit time passing the optical fiber cable 1 and arriving at the counter tube 4 is counted, to thereby detect penetration of moisture into the optical fiber cable 1.
