<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-stage type press machine which has several kinds of press dies at a multi-stage and performs press working by switching the press dies, wherein footprint and space saving in the height direction are achieved, and also, cost is reduced. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The multi-stage type press machine includes: a supporting frame 10 in which a first press die 2 and a second press die 3 are arranged so as to be adjacent up and down; a base member 15 provided inside the supporting frame 10 so as to be freely lifted/lowered, and further interposed between the first press die 2 and the second pres die 3, wherein the lower die B of the first press die 2 is disposed at the upper face side and the upper die C of the second press die 3 is disposed at the lower face side; and lifting/lowering driving means 25, 26 moving the base member 15 so as to be lifted/lowered, wherein the lifting/lowering driving means 25, 26 allow the base member 15 to move so as to be lifted or lowered, thus press forming is performed in either the first press die 2 or the second press die 3.
