<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slicer for manufacturing veneer from a flitch. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A drive gear 34 which operates through a driving pulley 30 and a driven pulley 32 from a motor 29 is meshed with first and second driven gears 36, 38. When the first and second driven gears 36, 38 are rotated, their rotation is converted to reciprocation of a flitch table 14 along the line of flow 58 through a link between a connecting rod 40 and a wrist pin 50.
