<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unit for controlling an operation of a lock, which is constituted as an independent unit constituted in a simplified manner, and which can accurately prevent the state of leaving a door unlocked, without the need for the replacement of the existing lock. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This unit includes a base plate which is fixed to the backside of the door in close vicinity to the lock, a stopper cam which has one end pivoted on the erected plate portion of the base plate with a pivot pin, and a spring member for rotatively urging the stopper cam. A blocking plate portion, which protrudes into a turning locus of a locking plate of the lock when the stopper cam is in a standby position to be inclined with respect to the backside of the door, is formed in the intermediate portion of the stopper cam. Also, a detection plate portion, which abuts on an opening edge of a fixed frame body at the closing terminal end of the door, is formed at the other end of the stopper cam. When the stopper cam is turned to a detection position arranged in parallel with the backside of the door by the detection plate portion pushed by the opening edge of the fixed frame body, the blocking plate portion of the stopper cam recedes to the outside of the turning locus of the locking plate.
