<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a zirconium oxide dispersion wherein fine zirconium oxide is uniformly dispersed in a dispersion medium, and the zirconium oxide dispersion obtained thereby. <P>SOLUTION: A water dispersion of zirconium oxide wherein fine zirconium oxide is uniformly dispersed in water can be obtained by: reacting a zirconium salt with an alkali in water so as to obtain a slurry of zirconium oxide particles; subsequently filtering, washing and re-pulping the slurry; adding ≥1 pts.mol organic acid to the obtained slurry per 1 pt.mol zirconium in the slurry; carrying out a hydrothermal treatment at ≥170°C; and washing the obtained water dispersion of zirconium oxide particles. A zirconium oxide dispersion using an organic solvent as the dispersion medium can be obtained by using the organic solvent as the dispersion medium instead of water in the water dispersion of zirconium oxide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
