<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel assembly for a fast reactor which can suppress local rise in the temperature of coolant. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the fuel assembly for the fast reactor, fuel pins 3 and moderator pins 2, filled with a moderator, are laid out like a triangle lattice in a polygonal cross-sectional wrapper tube 1. A moderator pin 2 is placed in the center of the cross section of the wrapper tube 1. A prescribed number of the moderator pins 2 are laid out dispersively, excluding the area within 2 pins from the wall surface of the wrapper tube 1, in each triangular region with adjoining two angular sections, in the wrapper tube 1 with the center of the cross section taken as the summit.
