<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device capable of improving a steering feeling, by preventing the transmission of vibration to a steering wheel. <P>SOLUTION: A transmission mechanism 40 is arranged in the middle of a steering system, and has an input shaft 42 connected to the steering wheel, a cylindrical member 44 connected to dirigible road wheels, and an elastic member 43 fixed to the input shaft 42 and the cylindrical member 44 and elastically transmitting rotation between both members 42 and 44. The transmission mechanism 40 has respective balls 45c simultaneously connectable to both of respective connecting parts 42d of the input shaft 42 and respective connecting parts 44a of the cylindrical member 44 when the elastic member 43 is not elastically deformed, a solenoid 46 and a spring 47 capable of moving a movable member 45 in the axial direction for switching a connecting state and an unconnected state of the respective balls 45c, the respective connecting parts 42d and the respective connecting parts 44a.
