摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark-ignition direct-injection engine having superior ignition stability and combustion stability even if ignition is carried out after a compression top dead center in particular operation of the engine, capable of quickly raising a temperature of the engine and a temperature of a catalyst, and having superior purifying performance of exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: The spark-ignition direct-injection engine 1 includes a multi-hole injector 7 and an ignition plug 6, and a swirling flow is formed in a combustion chamber 15 by control of a flow control valve 35. A top face 14 of a piston 4 is formed in a pent roof shape. During the particular operation of the engine 1, fuel is injected twice, in an intake stroke and in a latter half of a compression stroke, and it is controlled such that ignition is carried out after the compression top dead center. A direction of nozzle hole is set such that spray is hit on a slant face in an upstream side of the swirling flow after fuel injected from a second nozzle hole 28b in the latter half of the compression stroke is hit on a first slant face (a slant face) 42 of the top face 14, swept away by the swirling flow, and transferred around the ignition plug 6. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
