<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swash plate 3 having excellent sliding characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A swash plate 3 consists of a base material 11 made of a ferrous material, a hard first resin layer 12 provided by covering an end surface of the base material 11, and a soft second resin layer 13 provided by covering the first resin layer 12. A spiral annular groove 12A is formed in the surface of the first resin layer 12. The second resin layer 13 is provided according to a sectional shape of the first resin layer 12. The soft second resin layer 13 is formed on the sliding surface 3A of the swash plate 3, so that the swash plate 3 having excellent adaptability in an initial state of sliding can be realized. When a part of the second resin layer 13 is worn, a ridge 12 of the first resin layer 12 which is made of hard resin is exposed.
