An acquired signal indicative of electrophysiological activity is filtered using both a wavelet filter (120) and either a notch filter (140b) or a band-pass filter (220a) to eliminate noise or interference, such as power line interference. A wavelet transform (110) is used to transform the acquired signal into the wavelet domain, where a wavelet filter (120) is applied to extract a soft component (e.g., a component with small wavelet coefficients). A filter, such as a notch filter (140b) or a band-pass filter (220a), is applied to the soft component in order to isolate an interference signal. The interference signal is used to produce an output signal (150) representing the acquired signal (100) filtered to eliminate the interference signal. For example, the interference signal may be subtracted from the acquired signal (100). Alternatively, the output signal (150) may be reconstructed from respective hard and soft components of the acquired signal (100) as transformed into the wavelet domain.
|
