<p>PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing 5-ortho-tolyl-pentene is provided to prevent the clogging of a process by controlling the generation of a popcorn type polymer due to the polymerization of 1,3-butadiene and to reduce a corrosion rate of process equipment due to acid by minimizing the used amount of an alkali metal catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing 5-ortho-tolyl-pentene by reacting ortho-xylene with 1,3-butadiene includes a step putting diethyl hydroxylamine into a reactant to prevent the organic fouling due to the 1,3-butadiene. An alkali metal catalyst is used as a reactive catalyst. The input amount of the diethyl hydroxylamine is 50-80 ppm based on the total weight of the ortho-xylene and the 1,3-butadiene. The alkali metal catalyst is selected from Li, Na, K, Rb, and Sc.</p> |
