<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape cassette capable of enhancing flexibility of a pattern of a part to be detected provided for a tape printer to detect the kind of the tape cassette. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This tape cassette 30 includes a box-like cassette case storing a tape spool rolled with a tape in its inside. An arm side face 35 of the cassette case includes a cassette detecting part 80, to have a common part 32. A plurality of detection switches provided in a cassette mounting part 8 is opposed to the cassette detecting part 80, and one part of the detection switches is selectively pressed, when the tape cassette 30 is mounted in a proper position of the cassette mounting part 8. A plurality of detecting parts constituting the cassette detecting part 80 is provided in a plurality of stages with respect to a vertical direction of the tape cassette 30, and is provided to cross lines connecting the respective detecting parts with the vertical direction of the tape cassette 30.
