<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information terminal which can display a map image near a photographed place without being influenced by the reception state of a radio wave at viewing a camera image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The terminal is constituted of a camera 104 which photographs an object based on an imaging operation to form a camera image; a position information acquisition means which receives a signal from a GPS satellite based on imaging operation, and creates present position information based on the receiving result of the GPS signal; a map image acquisition means which accesses a map information providing site, and acquires the map image based on the present position, and a registration means of photographing place information which stores the present position information and the map information by making it associated with the camera image.
