<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial pile yarn substantially declining in no own high antimicrobial effect even if washed repeatedly, that is, capable of exhibiting its own high antimicrobial effects in high sustainability. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The antimicrobial pile yarn 5 is such that a plurality of primary-twist yarns 3 are intertwisted together. In the pile yarn 5, there are adhesion layers 40 made from a molten resin at a rate of 1.0 wt.% or more per pile yarn at the helical contact interfaces among the primary-twist yarns 3; the primary-twist yarns 3 are mutually bonded via the adhesion layers 40; each of the adhesion layers 40 has an antimicrobial agent at a rate of 1.0 wt.% or more, wherein the antimicrobial agent is dispersed throughout the adhesion layers 40.
